FROM THE CHAIR

Dear Members

As we move into summer, Elmbridge u3a continues to thrive.

Our Annual General Meeting in April was a particular highlight. It was followed by an interesting talk from Dr Helen Fry about the hidden history of WW2 and attracted a turnout of around 150 members - one of our best-attended events to date

At the AGM we were also delighted to present our Unsung Hero Award to Chris Dyer, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Elmbridge u3a. Chris’s work behind the scenes plays an important role in keeping our organisation running smoothly.

Looking ahead, we have the second National u3a Festival, to be held in York this July. The Festival offers an excellent opportunity for members from across the country to come together and share ideas. We hope that some of you will be able to attend and bring back inspiration and ideas for Elmbridge.

In July we will be returning to the Claygate Village Show. This is an enjoyable opportunity for us to raise awareness of Elmbridge u3a within the local community, meet potential new members, and showcase the breadth of activities we offer. If you are visiting the show, please do come and say hello.

Another area of growing interest is the work of our Artificial Intelligence group, exploring how AI tools can support creativity and research in areas such as photography, writing, and everyday tasks. It is exciting to see how this work is developing which you can read more about on here.

I hope you all enjoy the summer months and the many activi ties on offer.

With best wishes

Nigel
