News and tips from the Group Leaders

SPEAKING ITALIAN

If you want to improve your Italian grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary you will enjoy this group as we work through various exercises, translations and conversation. We meet up every week to keep the momentum going.

IN LINE

Line dancing is a social, fun activity with the added benefits of improving balance, co-ordination and memory. The music is uplifting and there can be no better way of dancing to that 10,000-step target! With no need for a partner, it is easy to join in, so do come and join us.

Christine Ward - Line Dancing

LET’S DO LUNCH

We always choose restaurants with a warm atmosphere and different styles of food, where we can chat freely and get to know one another. The conversation is very general, not political, so it’s an opportunity to make really good friends.

Vida Mellegarad - Lunch Club 1

BUENOS DIAS

We have lively discussions in a local café and are currently reading a book of short stories that helps to expand our knowledge of vocabulary. Luckily, we have a retired Spanish teacher in the group who always spurs us on.

Annie Fluke – Spanish Café Chats

MATHEMATICAL

We take a general topic suggested by members, then trawl through the Internet and other sources to look at the topic through mathematical eyes. Sometimes I lead with a basic presentation, which acts as a stimulus for group discussion, alternatively a member will prepare the presentation, depending on their experience or interest.
