Eu3a Magazine - Summer 2026
AGM Report
The 20th AGM was held on 1st April 2026 ahead of the monthly speaker’s talk at Claygate Village Hall.
The chair opened to a well-attended meeting and began by introducing the committee members. This year, the Speakers’ secretary and the Treasurer will stand down and a replacement for the former is being sought, while a replacement treasurer is currently shadowing the existing treasurer until he steps down in October. The Chair announced that his own term of office will end this year and a replacement is being sought. All other officeholders were re-elected unopposed.
Elmbridge u3a continues to flourish with growing membership and groups. Efforts are continually placed on seeking new leaders to run more groups, particularly where there are waiting lists.
Eu3a’s relationships with affiliates, such as the Riverhouse Barn and the Cecil Hepworth Playhouse, continue to grow and this year, in partnership with the RC Sherriff Trust, we will be hosting LitFest; our own literary festival which we hope will be an enjoyable and rewarding experience for members.
The chair then handed over to the treasurer for his financial report. It was a positive year with better income than anticipated, from member receipts plus commission generated from the Third Age Trust/Rivera Travel scheme.
There was no price increase on membership last year. This year, a small increase will be introduced to single membership, whilst the joint membership will remain unchanged.
The committee was pleased to present Chris Dyer with the Unsung Hero Award, introduced last year to acknowledge exemplary contributions made by our members which significantly benefit Eu3a. Chris has been providing IT and technical support to the committee, and all our members, for many years. His help has been invaluable and highly appreciated.
