Surrey Search and Rescue
A talk from a Member of Surrey Search and Rescue
Surrey Search and Rescue (SurSAR) is a lowland search and rescue team based in Surrey, United Kingdom, who respond to missing persons searches, water rescue, drone imaging and other taskings at the request of Surrey Policee and Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, as well as other statutory and government agencies. In common with most UKSAR teams, SurSAR's members are volunteers. The team has been a registered charity in England and Wales since October 2011.
The speaker will provide an overview of the work of the Team including its assets and the different skills sets required. An explanation of how callouts are dealt with from first contact with the Police to getting boots on the ground will be given. The speaker will also talk about their experience of being on the Team, why they joined and what skills and knowledge they bring to the Team.

A Team Briefing ahead of a search – most of the searches take place in the dark
The speaker will be an experienced member of the Team who has been involved in callouts, trainings and behind the scenes support to the Team. They will bring some humour to the talk as well as conveying the importance of the support the Team give to the Police.
