Literary Walk of Walton number 2
The hidden stories
In association with Elmbridge Literary Festival
This event is now fully booked
Tickets: £10 from Ticketsource
Step into Walton’s surprisingly rich literary past on this relaxed two-hour walk along the Thames and its historic streets. From the riverbanks immortalised by Jerome K. Jerome in Three Men in a Boat to homes linked with Arthur Sullivan, composer of Gilbert and Sullivan, the walk reveals how this quiet town inspired words, music and wit. We'll pause at places and houses associated with well- and lesser-known local writers, composers and publication owners which help bring Walton’s cultural life vividly to life. A gentle, entertaining walk for lovers of literature, music and hidden history — with plenty of chances to linger, reflect, and perhaps end with a riverside drink.

Your guide will be local resident Steve who is a qualified City of London and Westminster guide as well as having a deep interest in the Elmbridge area. The walk is on pavements and has some gentle slopes.
Where:
The walk will start and finish at the Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre, Manor Road, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, KT12 2PF
