Adaptations and the Art of Trying to Please Everyone

This short workshop looks at the art of adapting stories for the stage and screen. It will look at how to translate prose into visual storytelling and how you can shift from how a novel that tells you what happens inside a character to film or theatre where you show what happens in front of a camera. 

Peter Alan

The workshop is led by Pete Allen. Pete is the Director of The RC Sherriff Trust. He trained as Theatre Director at Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama and has a Masters in Film and Television Studies from the University of Westminster. Pete was co-founder and artistic director of Whirlygig Arts, the Big Picture Young People’s Film Workshop and co-founded Storm the Stage Young People’s Theatre. He has also worked extensively as a professional theatre director adapting authors such as as Heinrich Hoffman, Edgar Allan Poe and Stella Gibbons for the stage.
