Tribute to Tony Wharton

Elmbridge u3a was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Tony Wharton, a much-loved and highly valued member of our community. Tony served for many years on the Committee as Members Secretary, a role he carried out with great dedication, care and quiet efficiency. He was often one of the first points of contact for new members, and many will remember the warmth, patience and good humour with which he welcomed people into Elmbridge u3a. His commitment behind the scenes played an important part in helping the organisation grow and flourish.

As the driving force behind Elmbridge u3a’s Jazz Band, he not only led the group musically but also inspired many members as well as non-members to take part, listen and enjoy.

Tony gave his time generously, supported others willingly and enriched our community in ways that will be long remembered.

We extend our sincere condolences to Tony’s family and loved ones. He will be remembered with gratitude, affection and respect by all at Elmbridge u3a.
