Spreading the word

Last July we were happily spreading the word about Elmbridge u3a at Claygate Village Show.

Despite the 30-plus degree temperature the show, as usual, was very well attended. We chatted to loads of people and signed up two new members with high hopes of many others who didn't have cash on them but promised to do it online.

Many thanks to Nigel, Janice and Peter, for helping me run the stall. We even managed to grab the Mayor of Elmbridge - Councillor Steve Bax - and show him what we do! He thought we just organised a monthly talk so we were pleased to tell him about all our many activities.

Pickleball Anniversary

About 100 people attended the 5th Anniversary party of our pickleball group at the Xcel Sports Centre in Walton. It was a great night and yet another triumph for Jane and Cliff, who run the group and their entertainments sub- Committee. The entertainment was provided by Magic Martin, the guy in the purple jacket, who was one of the highlights of the evening as he moved from table to table doing amazing tricks. He was really good and had everyone stumped as to how he did it. We rounded off the evening with rather energetic dancing enjoyed by all.
