Claygate Village Show It seems that every time we set up our stall at the Claygate Village Show we do so during a heatwave – and this year was no exception.

Yet again it was a roasting day in July when we manned the u3a stall in 34-degree temperatures. Despite the heatwave plenty of people came by to ask about our organisation so Chair Nigel, and helpers Mark and Janice, were kept busy. It’s at shows like this that we make ourselves known to the Elmbridge community and hopefully boost our every growing membership.

Food Carnival A big thank you to our friends at Thames View Care Home who kindly extended an invitation to their Food Carnival on Saturday 8th August. A number of our members took advantage of this very kind offer and were treated to a delicious meal in their delightful riverside gardens at Thames Ditton. Thanks very much to all concerned.

Congratulations We are very pleased and proud to announce that, in August, Gary Sellwood and Danny Schneiderman from Elmbridge u3a won Gold in the English Open Pickleball tournament men’s 65+ category. This was a huge occasion with 3300 players from 56 countries participating. Many congratulations to them both!
