From The Chair

As we move into spring, there’s a real feeling of freshness and optimism around Elmbridge u3a.

One of the most exciting developments is the work now underway on our Elmbridge Literary Festival, planned for the summer. We’re delighted to be working in partnership with the R C Sherriff Trust and other Elmbridge organisations to create what promises to be a lively and inspiring celebration of literature and creativity. It’s wonderful to see local organisations coming together in this way, and I know many of you will be keen to get involved.

This spring edition is however tinged with sadness, as we remember Tony Wharton, a much-valued member of our committee. Tony gave so much to Elmbridge u3a, always generously and with great good sense and warmth. He was a pleasure to work with and will be deeply missed by friends and colleagues alike. Our thoughts are very much with his family and friends.

It’s been a joy to see our members getting out and about. The Adventurous Explorers and Di’s Days Out groups have organised fantastic outings. These trips are a reminder of what u3a is all about — curiosity, companionship and enjoying time together.

Thank you to all our members for your enthusiasm, support and willingness to get involved. As always, Elmbridge u3a is shaped by you and it’s a pleasure to see it continue to grow and thrive. I hope you enjoy this spring edition.

With very best wishes,

Nigel
