Women in intelligence - A hidden history from WWI to WWII

Helen Fry takes a panoramic view of the rich intelligence and espionage work women undertook as civilians and in uniform. From spies in the Belgian network ‘La Dame Blanche’, knitting coded messages into jumpers, to those who interpreted aerial images and even ran entire sections, she will talk about some of the inspirational contributions of these remarkable women from her extensive research.
For more info see Women in intelligence - A hidden history from WW1 to WW2
Please note the AGM precedes this talk so arrive early for a 13:30 start.
Shuttleworth House

23rd June 2026
Shuttleworth House was the home of the Shuttleworth family, particularly Richard Ormonde Shuttleworth, an aviation pioneer. The house itself reflects a mix of Victorian and Edwardian styles, with elegant interiors, period furnishings, and a warm, lived-in feel rather than a grand palace atmosphere. It is now a very popular wedding venue.
The real highlight of the estate is the Shuttleworth Collection, one of the most important working collections of vintage aircraft and vehicles in the world, including airworthy vintage aircraft, many dating from the early 20th century.
Book early to secure your place at your favourite events.

Longleat House & Safari Park

8th July 2026
Home to the 8th Marquess of Bath, the house was the first stately home to open to the public back in 1949. It was built in 1580 and widely regarded as one of the finest examples of Elizabethan architecture. It now hosts the first drive through safari park outside of Africa, opening in 1966. Our coach will take us to view tigers, lions and elephants etc, with a chance to enjoy a cruise on the safari boat later, gliding past the gorilla colony and friendly sea lions.
